Seats for FC
Just looking for ideas for seats. The car will be used for track days but I'll be driving it to the track, so I need some comfort. What seats do you guys like? I'm about 5'10" 160lbs. The best way would be to actually sit in the seats but that's not always an option. Also, any advice on buying a harness? Safety features I should look for and whatnot. Thanks.

Try Winecountry Motorsports in Sears point...they have most of the sparco seats in stock you can try.... Harness...Go for a 4 point 3 inch..I like sparcos or sabelts..the camlock system.....Rem make sure you have the correct kind of harness bar. Or a roll cage/bar if possible. Dont "ghetto" install it..;) I have a Recaro SPG, M2 roll bar, 6 point Sparco harness. My harness is secured by the eyebolts for shoulder and lap belts. Anti Sub belts are secured to the front seat bolts..... have fun..... |
I like the Kirkey intermediate road race seat from IO Port. It is styled like the sparcos, but made of aluminum, much stronger than the 300-600.00 fiberglass seats. About 400.00 delivered to you.

I have yet to see an 8-point. Know where I can see a pic of this setup?

Pyrotect has been testing this setup with a bunch of hollywood stuntmen and are starting to sell the harness. I recently helped a teammate install a set in an ITA CRX. it adds three additional "limiting" belts. On their website look under harnesses. imagine the five point system with two additional sub belts that go under your legs and back to the lap belt mounts on the floor(these are snug but not tight like the rest of the harness) and a shoulder limiting belt that connects to the two shoulder belts and is mounted to the floor behind the seat. this belt is again snug but not tightened like the rest of the harness. the three additional belts are to limit the stretch of the traditional 5 point system and to prevent belt failures. sub belt failures are very common in head on crashes because they are not installed correctly. the limiting belts can help reduce the amount of stretch that can occur in a properly setup harness also. this is what the stuntmen like since it prevents minor injuries in a properly setup system. give Larry at Pyrotect a call and he can give a better explanation of how the system works.

Thanks for all the advice. I will be having a roll cage built for the car. First I have to get my car running.
