Is it safe to bolt the side mounts directly to the floor ? I want to know how to mount an aftermarket seat safely.

Sure, if you use nice big washers to prevent the fasteners from pulling through, and as always, use high grade fasteners.

Like to the floor bottom as in air chiseling out the front crossmember that supports the factory seat rails at the front etc? I'm not super familiar with FB floors but I'm putting a new race seat in my FC and I wouldn't trust the floor alone, just not enough meat to it. CSC Racing where I'm having the work done suggested starting with a flat bottom then reinforcing it, which makes sense. I'll take some pics if possible of the route we go.

I've seen people do this in other cars without issue...I would recommend using backing plates though in the same vein as when you install a 6pt harness through the floor.

Use backing plates. Welding some bar stock in wouldn't hurt either

sorry for digging this out. Searched in the 2 gen and race car section but I still dont have the answer I need.

I am planning to install a set of Sparco Rev Plus seats in my FC.
They will be mounted with solid side mounts, no sliders ! A real racing seat.

Do the side mounts usually fit into the stock mounting holes ?
Or do I need to have them drilled to the floor ??
Same question for the passenger side, apparently when using sliders there is an mounting issue. Same problem when installing side mounts ?

Car gets a complete weld in roll cage connecting all shock towers, so I need to have the
seats done before due to the clearances.

On the right hand side, there's a hump in the floor for exhaust clearance, and this is what causes problems. It's annoying in countries that drive on the left! :)

Anyway, maybe talk to your cage installers about seat mounting because it may be easier to have them install the seat mounts too. There is some nice mounting done where the cage extends under the seats and gives a very strong platform to mount the seat too. Assuming that would satisfy any rules of course.

I dont know if thats allowed, I need to check the rules, its a nice idea, would give some extra strength.
Problem is that I have sunroof, so I am sitting 4 cm under the roof with the stockers. (i am 177 cm)
Best would be to sit as low as possible. Thats why I want to bolt it to the floor.

Seat position is HORRIBLE with the stockers. I always get the impression I am sitting not centered at the drivers side.
Thus my legs are always angled preventing me from a proper heel toe, it works, but at high speeds its annoying, and in corners I need to grad the steering wheel so tight to prevent me getting slammed to the window.
Really annoying, makes me want to buy the seats right now.

If I get a few moments I will take pics of my seat mounts, but I would not recommend bolting seat mounts to the floor, nor would I recommend cutting out the factory bracing to do so.
