Scored some used Goodyear Short Track tires.

26.5x8x15 got like 6 of them that are all 1/2 tread left.

they were free, which makes it the best part.

honestly i have no idea what i can really use them for. They are going on the rx7 for sure. Think they might stand up to some 1/4 mile use? or just driving around town? I figure they wont last under normal driving conditions, but i dont drive my car much. But they are free so whatever.

anyone know anything about these damned things?

Are those going to fit your 2nd Gens? They would not fit mine. 26.5" is a bit tall and 8" is a little on the narrow side. The narrow you can live with- but the 26.5" may be a problem. The taller tire will also affect gearing which will affect performance.

its seems as though it should fit the FC chassis. They wouldnt stand chance on my FB

I have over a decade of experience with real slicks - I am not talking about DOT racing tires, but real racing slicks. Stock car tires are almost always too tall to put on sports cars - that is why Goodyear makes lots of much smaller diameter racing tires for sports cars.

Racing slicks are very thin, and they are very easily punctured. They seem to be a magnet to pick up things that poke holes in them. Not legal for the street.

Just because they still have tread on them does not mean that they will still stick to a race track. Odds are the reason you got them for free was because they are old and hard, and they are no longer sticky. Just because a racing slick has tread does not mean that it is still useable for racing. I have to quit using a lot of my slicks when they still have 1/2 to 1/4 tread showing, but they are no longer sticking to the race track. I can take them off, bolt on a new set of sticky slicks, and instantly drop my lap times.

oh well. ill use them for burnouts then (if they fit)
