SCCA SOLO rules- Section 14.8 B

As per section 14.8 B in the 2012 SOLO rule book, I think they are referring to the DTSS bushings and I'm not sure what they are exactly trying to get across...

"If the Stock bushing accommodated multi-axis motion via compliance of the component material(s), the replacement bushing may not be changed to accommodate such motion via a change in bushing type, for example to a spherical bearing or similar component involving internal moving parts."

Does this mean I cannot replace the stock DTSS bushing with a component to aid in changing toe? Or does this mean I cannot change the material to stop the change in toe, which is the job of the eliminator bushings? I'm betting its the first thought, but I am not entirely sure.

Thanks to anyone who can help

My intepretation:

This rule appears to limit your options to replace the bushing while retaining the multi-axis motion (toe change). If you want to restrict the multi-axis motion, such as what the dtss eliminator bushing do, this rule does not stop that.

Its trying to tell you that you cannot completely change the design of the bushing to acomplish the same multi-axis motion. Basically if you want the toe changes, you must replace the bushing with another OEM one, or an aftermarket one of the same design (doesn't exist as far as I know) ie compliant rubber or plastic (I don't see a material limitation) surrounding a sleeve. You cannot replace the bushing with a helm joint or other non-oem style design with the goal to reproduce the properties of the OEM bushing underload.
