Sanity Check - Tranmission Wiring
Hey Gang,
I'm in the process of trying to trace a wiring short in my FC (blowing meter fuses after several minutes on track) and I wanted to verify that I can disconnect the "Over Top" and "Backup Light" switches on the transmission w/o affecting the ECU operation. It's a track-only non-road car, so I do not need backup lights. Car is an S5 with no emissions and a stock ECU. I am under the impression that I do have to have the "Neutral Switch" connected.[*] Anybody see a problem? Thanks, -bill [*] hmm, I wonder if the neutral switch affects the ecu and could make it go lean.... |
Never had any wires from the tranny hooked up and worked fine with a stock ECU for me before.

Well I ran the car for the past two days at the track with the Over Top and Reverse switches disconnected. No problems seen and in addition the meter fuse never blew. I may play some next time out disconnecting the neutral switch and seeing the results.
