i'm getting mine custom built by a ground zero race cars in Calgary. i will probably have to paint it myself after, which will take some time. but he garuntees it for approval and will give me a life time warranty. hes asking 650 canadian including the metal. I think thats pretty reasonable, i would look around for someone to make a custom one. i had a hard time trying to find one i could buy and not to mention shipping and installation still.

I believe the website is ioptracing.com or something to that effect, it might be ipot. Not sure but they carry Autopower roll cages and they're really good looking.

If you have any future plans for any kind of racing make sure whatever you get fits the rules. SMonty, $650c is a steal for a full cage! Is the guy using DOM tubing? I just bought about 75ft (3 sticks) of DOM and it was just over $5/ft. The price comes down some if you buy more but not a whole lot.
I would contact your local SCCA, or NASA people, they can point you to a cage builder in your area.

well im not lookin for a full roll cage just a four point or something on that matter cuz this is my daily driver and some what of a drift spec and i really appreciate the help guys anything else on good web sites will help 2 cuz i was a honda man and fell in love with rotory power so im new to this scene any way i appreciate the help

jgrewe 12-16-05 12:29 AM

Same people that do a full cage can do as little or as much as you want. It will probably be a better fit too.

Autopower has a really good 4-pt roll bar that can be made in many different configurations (street, sport, street-sport, race=best) and should cost less than $500 for a legal DOM cage. Just because it's "jdm" doesn't make it the best or safest. Also, international shipping is insanely expensive, and that will be added to the cost of your "jdm" cage/bar.

Autopower is in San Diego but they ship daily, you can order the bar in std painted (keeps the rust off) or unfinished and then have it powdercoated. www.AutopowerIndustries.com Cindy answers the phones, Rick and Don build the bars and belts, good guys, been around for a while :-)

yo jspekII its good to have ya in the rotary community....everybody addressed the roll bar issue but here is some aftermarket info for ya. you already know that driving a RX-7 is totally awesome and believe it or not the aftermarket for the FC is moving on up and is awesome......some aftermarket websites are rx7.com in garland, TX racingbeat.com in CA mazdatrix.com and for exterior i use sportcompactonly.com, you can finance anything from sport compact only, even a TII carbon fiber hood.....i got mine and i pay 32/month for it. sorry to say though the best things to do to the RX-7 is to be done by you, you will have to custom make a cold air intake and to do it right you'll have to cut a hole in the engine bay........i am assuming you have a TII, well to have a kick ass street car for a really great price just buy a rtek chip($100) to eliminate the fuel cut from high boost. put a 3" turbo back exhaust($200) go to a cheap muffler shop for this, and while you are there have them bend a cold air intake for you($50), port your intake manifold with a saw bit by doing the gasket match porting(free), and then port your throttle body to flow a little more air. so for about 350 bucks you can have a kick ass TII....i did all of this and mine is pulling 10psi. then i would go for a racing clutch asap and a lightened flywheel.....this should have you smoking a z06 vette.

SMonty 12-16-05 12:46 PM

650 is for a 6 point and you need to book a month or 2 in advance to get your car in. He says its garunteed for 10.0 second passes which should be good.

intake exhaust chip and 10 psi can beat a z06 vette? i would pay money to see that man. I'm sure it does a lot but i dont think you'll be running 12s with that setup

jspekII 12-16-05 03:14 PM

yes it is a t2 that i have and its already got mild mods like an hks exhaust hks turbo timer and act heavy duty clutch and a lightwieght flywheel i cant remember the name but it has awsome upgrades already but i do need an intake and such so i really appreciate the help guys anything more cuz im still wanting to know everything possible

You may also want to check out Kirk Racing (note: *not* Kirkey). They have some decent 4-point bolt in roll-bars that are legal for SCCA Solo-I (at least they claim that for the FC bar).
