rear fender well rust question
k guys after tearing apart my first gen rx7 (85 glu) i noticed at the rear fender wells there was alot of crappy lookin tar patch up, well the previous owner had bolted a metal slab on both sides and then tarred it up from the inside and out, now i want my car to look clean cut on the inside and i dont like all that crap on it looking half assed so im workin on prying it all off, my question is that the best way to fix it to ensure the rust will not spread, it is very important i minmize rust to 0% cause this is a drag car and i cant be having rusted parts on my chassis. also i thought about cutting the back end but that is more trouble than it is worth for such a small amount in those two places and the places that i would have to weld to would also be rust repair so the strength wouldnt handle the racing thanks in advance :D
