Rain tires

I used to have a set of Hossier Dirt Stockers for all out rain. We used them up in a 24 hour race(98) and I was wondering what is used today. Now this is NOT a street rain tire or a DOT race with heavy tread. It had to be in the water or it would chunk bad. I was hoping there was something similer that others started using.

For full on heavy rain it's still Dirt Stockers.

For a wet track but no real deep puddles full tread Victoracers.

Doesn't hoosier make a full rain tire now? I think they just came out with it. You can see them at tirerack.com

Yup - they are making a DOT rain that I haven't gotten a firsthand report on yet. Dirt Stockers are still the tire of choice for most folks, especially when they are new and eraser soft and gummy! I think that at the top of the charts are some Goodyear G19 racing tires in one of their ultra soft compounds. I don't know if they come grooved to a pattern or you have to groove them yourself, but since the softest compund that normal racers run is a R430, and these tires are also available in a R175 and R250 compound I would have to guess that they would be great rain tires!!
