Hi guys

The plan for Sunday, last round of the winter series went like this - they were also advertising a 50 minute enduro at the end of the day. I figured that I'd be too buggered to do all of it so decided to take the 2nd driver approach. Time for a call in a mate Stephen, he's keen but needs a proper race licence - like a good chap, he gets that sorted.

Thursday night I'm prepping the car and spot some cracks in the brake rotors - hey Stephen, how about taking some off your car (also FD with RS front brakes) and bringing them with you - done!

Got to the track early, into our garage and swapped the rotors, bedded them during qualifying, sweet. Qualified P10 with a 1.17 - got the day on track, even if there's a bit of a shudder developing from the brake pedal.

Stephen then jumped in a got us qualified for the enduro - first time back on the track in 12 months or so.

Race 1
Scratch race - had a great race swapping positions with an ex NZV8 car, the bugger got me by 0.06 secs in the end but it was a great race. Pulled the fastest lap ever in the car, 1.15.6, previous best was a 16.4 so stoked with that. The car was a bit tail-happy with a full load of fuel, needed to make sure we had enough in the tank + cans to get through the Enduro at the end of the day. Finished 10th.

Race 2
Reverse grid handicap - started on 20 secs in the middle of the pack. Pulled off some good passes and had the usual busy traffic in the last couple of laps. Best lap was 1.16.0, finished 7th.

Race 3
Reverse grid handicap - started on 20 secs in the middle of the pack. Had fun chasing an old Datsun, bloody quick it was too. Fastest lap a 1.15.9, finished 5th.

Great day 'at the office' - even though I had to drive around/through a horribly shuddery brake pedal, can't believe how fast the car was running irrespective of that.

Unfortunately there was a bunch of other stuff happening on the track at lunchtime that meant the Enduro was replaced by another sprint race, so I handed the car over to Stephen and he did that one.

With that series complete, it's time to start the planning on the next stages of car development. Given the constant exhaust leaks (btwn manifold and turbos) it might finally be time to put a single on it ... any thoughts, ideas welcomed.

Cheers
Shaun
