Hi guys

I was back on the track on Sunday, round 3 of the winter series at Manfield, NZ

Qualifying – thought I had enough time to bed in new brake pads and still put in a decent lap at the end of the session, no such luck … back of the grid for me.

Race 1 – scratch race, only 15 cars in the GT Cup this round … aimed to get through to 8th or 9th … got to 9th and decided that with the next two races being reverse grid it wasn't worth pushing on any more.


Race 2 – reverse grid handicap … I was on the back of a bunch of 5 cars, knew if I could get through them quickly I would have some clear track to make a run to the front guys, hopefully before the really fast guys came through … the plan worked! I got the front going into the final corner on the last lap, down the inside of the fastest corner on the track, then had a faster car go around the outside of me during exit of the corner, but he put his wheels in the dirt, yeah, I'm in front again, keep the foot down HARD – got my first WIN!!

Sorry about the audio on this one … the handicapper got this one spot on, the first 5 cars finishing in 1.19 seconds …


Race 3 – similar grid positions to race 2, so same strategy … got to the front with a couple of laps to spare so pinned the ears back and tried to get enough distance btwn me and the chasing pack … almost worked, got passed on 2nd to last corner by my mate running a Capri powered with a Nissan turbo … so a 2nd for me by 0.3 seconds …


Fantastic day at the track – LOVE RACING, you should all have a crack at it …
