Racing RX7's

I wanted to know what common problems do RX7's have on the race track. I've already gotten heat as an issue, surely there are other little niggly things about RX7's right?

My plan is to get a late model for racing purposes only and it's split between another GTR, a Supra and a FD RX7.

i run a 12A, i'm not sure if this applies to a later model but the oil injectors aren't designed to run at 6-8k for long durations of time so we have to add about a quart of 2cycle oil to our 20 gal fuel cell to supplement. doesnt blow any smoke or anything.

3rd generation RX7.

I'm not sure if it will be a Series 6, 7 or 8 as I don't know the mechanical differences between them.

The car will most likely be a jap spec as it's cheaper to import from there for racing purposes.

Well, you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. Heat is your worst enemy on the track. FD's are notorious for overheating problems. Make sure your cooling system is in tip-top shape. Ditch the cheap-ass stock radiator for an all aluminum one. Check your fluids. Be religious about changing them. Everything else is normal wear-and-tear that most racecars go through.
