So what type/model should I be looking for? Any experiences? Where to buy?

SPA design, only one worth having.

Why though? What makes SPA design better? I'm not doubting that SPA makes good stuff, it just that I'm broke and SPA builds expensive stuff so I'm kindof wondering why it is better...

Although they are ricey, try check out Ziptied forums.
There was a pretty good thread on some of the budget stuff available.
NRG seems to get a pretty good review for the price.

Check out miatacage.com. They make a nice thread on unit that does not require any welding

Check some of the stock car guys for a quick release hub kit. hex shape types are cheapest and sloppiest, but rebco makes a nice splined model. The one I have used is here
