pure race car setup c prepared first gen

here what i was thinking:
tokiko shocks front and back
grannys speed shop ford 8.8 rear end with their custom ladder bar setup

or

Gforce engineering panhard and third member

custom welded sway bars and strut bars (off a turboII i have)

8 pt cage done to SCCA/solo specs

and i dont know if undercarrage butterflys are allowed in solo competition, but if they are i would use a front butterfly and a under tranny butterfly.

the car is goign to be strick race, no street driving at all.

OK, what im lookin for from you guys is brand names for the shocks/springs/coil overs, spring rates on some of your vehicles, and inputs on the panhard bars and more rules clariffied and what i can and cant do to stiffen the chassis.

The first thing before any mods, you should get a rule book and figure out exactly what class you want to run. I'm not sure a 1st gen ( I think thats what you are talking about) ever runs in CP (more of a v8 muscle class). There is a c street prepared, but again, you need to figure out what you want to do first. As for coilovers, Check out ground controls, and I'm not sure how well ladder bars would work for a autox car, maybe more of a 1/4 mile car?

My 1st-gen runs in FP because of the relocated suspension mounting points.

Check and see if the G-Force 3-link is SP legal. The Panhard definitely won't be, and I don't know if the G-Force 3-link interferes with it or not.

All that said, 8.8 rear: ARE YOU HIGH??? The 8.8, like the Chevy 10/12 bolt, is a perfect example of how to combine the worst attributes possible and put them into one rearend. The cast centersection makes them heavy, the axle bearing setup is heinous, the C-clip retaining method invites disaster WHEN the axles break, and it prevents the use of a decent 4-pinion ramp-style limited-slip since there has to be an open area for C-clip installation.

You will not break the 7". It's light and strong enough, the factory limited-slip unit is pretty damn good, and useful gear ratios are cheap and plentiful.

Sweet man. Only thing I can think of that hasn't been mentioned would be gut teh interior :icon_tup:

Zyrano 11-27-06 01:18 AM

Again, it will depend on which clsass you are running. Some classes allow gutting the interior, some don't. Also, I think both the panhard and the tripoint is CSP legal, so maybe that is the class to consider running.

i talked to the locals, and if i go with a ls1 or 350 in the car, it would be in CP, but if i keep the rotary engine, it would be in CSP.

i dought tbe panhard and the tri-point would be legal in a SP class if they arent in a full prepared class. i will ask around though.

Prepared allows relocated suspension pickup points. The only restriction IIRC is that if the suspension comes through the floor into the passenger area, it must be covered with a steel cover.

That is not correct. Since you would be an engine swap, you would be in XP or EM. Those are your two choices.
