ok im really debating on premixing and getting rid of my omp ect. but so many people say that its ridiculous and makes your car run worse. as of now i have my OMP wired open anyways and havnt had a problem. i use my car mostly for autocross and hopefully lapping sessions soon. can i have opinions from people who have premixed or still do. and what kinda of oil is recommended ect. thanks

If you search around you will find lots of threads on premix. A lot of people premix even with the OMP. Most of use use a good quality synthetic 2-cycle oil. Take your pick.

I've got a customer that used to race bikes and won't let me use anything other than the Lucas 2-cycle semi-synthetic. I'll say one thing for sure: it doesn't look like the Wal-Mart 2-cycle stuff. Smells good, too! ;) I run an ounce per gallon, though that's more for superstition than anything else. No smoke to speak of with that mixture, as well. Make sure you mix it up well before you put it in the car or put it in then fill the tank (same customer hates when I do that, so I mix it in jugs for his car :D ).

A bunch of guys here are using castor oil from Klotz Lube. I believe the name is Benol (with one of those bars over the o). Makes the car smell like a Saturday Night Special, which is appealing to some... Also, one of the guys that started the fad believed at one point it had something to do with his motor blowing, but I think the fact that the engine was built like a funny-car had more to do with it. ;)

Stay away from the castor oils! The two-stroke guys even avoid the stuff anymore. At one time they were the premeire two-stroke lube. But with advent of cleaner burning oils they are now mostly shunned. A castor oil will leave a terrible gummy deposit on almost everything and esspecially the exhaust components and two-stroke power valves. Not a good thing to have around apex seals.

Like Chris said, 1 oz per gallon without the OMP. I use Amsoil 2-cycle racing oil. Royal Purple, Petit makes a premix, and Redline is good stuff as well. You will read a lot about MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil). It has some benefits but I would use it only if you have a functioning OMP.

ok well im planning on getting rid of the omp so it will be just premix. and i have a question lol what is saturdaynight special? sorry i think iv herd it before but dont remember lol. but yah i like the once per gallon semi synthetic ideal. thanks everyone.

I use it as another term for roundy-round, but pretty much any Saturday night racecar, I guess. ;)

Thanks for the info, Ludwig. I had no desire to use the stuff but a bunch of the guys around here just go apeshiznitty over it. Now I've got more reason not to use it than just to be "different"! :D

I've had good success with Castrol 2-cycle lube. Blue in color. Many many guys use 1oz/gallon but the old timers use 3.5oz/5 gallons. The synthetic stuff burns cleaner and lubes better.

Still safe my friend. My long time engine builder reccomended that to me when he build my $6k 12a JBridge. Still runs. That is the long standing standard.

I ditched my OMP last weekend on my s4. It's easy. You need the block off plate and 4 bolts to plug the oil injector holes. I took a bunch of pics, check here.

I'm currently using some supposedly high-quality tcw3 oil my dad uses on his boat, that he gets from a local marine store.

When you convert to premix do you simply remove the OMP and put a blockoff plate? Or do you take off the front cover and and block off the feed passage to the OMP. You might want to take the route of taking the front cover off and blocking off the feed passage. Just a suggestion.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anything _bad_ happens, it's just better to take the front plate off. Of course, it's a PITA to take the front plate off with the engine in the car, so I don't know many people that've done that!

Of course, just putting the plate on also leaves you open to a leak right there. I don't think it's a high pressure area, but if you didn't put o-rings or some RTV on it could spew a little oil from around the plate.

I WAS anyti-premix for many years, then one day I was in Pettits shop talking to Cam and Candy about it and Candy went and got 2 rotors, one out of an engine that ran premix and one that only used the OMP. Once I saw for myself the wear on the OMP car I was sold. I pulled my OMP system and now run premix only.

I will only use 2 different readily available oils in my car.

I initially ordered a case of the Dominator in 8oz. bottles and now just order 1 gallon refills of either the protek or Dominator and refill the 8 oz. bottles and keep them in my car.

I run quicksilver synthetic marine 2 stroke mix. 1 ounce per gallon, fully synthetic. Its kinda expensive but from what I have read on the marine forums its one of the best

I race my FB 12a in Ontario, Canada at Mosport Raceway.......I took off my OMP and use Castrol 2 stroke @ 100:1 mix. It works great !!

Use whatever.

I don't use the OMPs mainly because they never seem to actually do anything, they either leak externally or they just have no output for some reason.

Plus the plumbing and linkage is a lot simpler if you are fabricating your own manifold or building an engine from a pile of parts.

I consider ounce/gallon to be a bare minimum. Under competition use I will run closer to 1:75 oil:fuel.
