Pineapple Racing Rally Port
Anyone have a Pineapple Racing rally port that they are running in their car? This is supposed to be the porting step that is between the bridge port and a big street port. This supersized street port is cut under where the corner seal passes, so that the corner seal is cantilevered by a small amount. According to the writings of the Pineapple folks a rally port engine is more reliable (runs longer) than a bridge and give GREAT power.
Who has one? What do you think? What induction system are you using? Where does the power peak? |

Pineapple has built me engines ranging from small streetport,to a peripheral Port witch i am still running 9 years later on the same set of apex seals,all of rob's engines are reliable if you use it for what it was built for.i hope that answered your question.

Early openning intake port
I have not run or seen Pineapples intake port. Partially undercutting the corner seal to get the intake port to open sooner and add more total port timing really isn't that new. I have been doing it for 15 years plus and saw it on a lot of old motors and porting templates.
I went with the solid corner seals on those street port motors to get back some surface area on the corner seals. Don't know if that really helped. As far a reliablity a small bridge port with the water seal intact can last a long time if it is well made. Basically the same life as a large street port for the same level of care and RPM limit. The problem is even with a small bridge the HP range seems higher and narrower and I keep running the extra RPM to get that extra power. A large bridge with the water jackets cut don't seem to last that long. After just a few races I had water start to leak back into the cambers. |
my friend that goes by megabridge on this forum has around 1000 miles on the engine in his RX-3,it's a really big bridgeport that goes beyond the water seals,it was built by Pineapple Racing,i run a Peripheral Port,and ran it for 8 years before disassembling it to do some updates,but the carbon seals were still in great cond.just a testimonial to Rob's engine building,so not all high performance engines have a short life span.

My pineapple 13b streetport is still humming along in the repu. done a few cross-state trips and autocrosses.
the 12a J bridge with ceramics Rob built for me still runs strong. Made exactly the amount of power we talked about. Pineapple did have one person building motors with QA issues but he's not there anymore. Time to move on. |
