so nice.....
Dont you have to buy the CDs to get the pics? |
Todd Serota's TracQuest! I'm one of Todd's east coast instructors at Mid Ohio. Damn I need to make it to a west coast event  BTW, love the yellow FD. Looks similar to Brad Barber's yellow track-only beast :)
|
foko, which tires did you end up with, and how did you like them on track?
|
Cossie,
Yep, you have to buy a CD if you want full size pics, but hey, I'm an RX-7 driver, and I don't mind sharing once in a while :) Just don't tell Norm or Steve ;) Did we shoot an event you were at? I can dig up a few if you want.. PaulC #28 Head-On Photos PS-1 RX-7 |
hmmm
Were you at the NASA event in Vegas last year? in the summer where we had the night track day? I was there in my Audi I was at LS in Dec with Greenflag, then SearsPoint with Speed ventures... I wont tell....promise on my rotary soul....;) |
We were supposed to do the GFR event in December, but some other photo guy got the gig.
we did do the NASA LVMS event back in the summer, what car # were you then? PaulC |
I think I was #171
I had a black Audi S4 with BBS LMs http://images.fotki.com/v13/photos/4...SCF0054-or.jpg |
Originally posted by SleepR1 foko, which tires did you end up with, and how did you like them on track? i'm running khumo v700's 285/30-18. it was my first day out on that tire/wheel combo so i spent most of the days with the pyrometer adjusting pressures and working out camber settings. i bought the tires heat cycled from tire rack, but no shaved, so there was quite a bit of tread. at the end of the day, the inside of my tranny "rearranged" itself......so no more set up until march 1-2 at laguna seca. my initial impression was that the setup was oversteering dramatically....however, once tire pressures were optimized, that improved very quickly . turn-in is SPECTACULAR. i'm changing camber settings a bit before the next track day, based on my pyrometer data, and i'll be starting with good pressure data. more of a report to follow. maybe you could get todd to set you up as a guest instructor and fly you and your car out on a transport plane:) hehe....actually todd really enjoys rx7's though he's gone over to that german marque now.....something that starts with a "p" i think.... fabian |
What do you mean rearranged tranny ?? That sounds bad, fabian!! Glad you liked the Ecsta V700s. They might be worth trying out. Too bad the sizes are limited in 17-inch. I need 255/40-17s... I've dreamed of doing Laguna and Sears Point. I guess I could "rent" a BMW 3-series to thrash around...or perhaps there are race car rentals available near the tracks...or YOU could rent your FD to me, (hee hee) :p:
|
yeah, turns out the primary and secondary shaft 3rd gear cogs lost about 1/3rd of their teeth......very strange failure.....
anyhow i'm up and running again so all is well. i know for certain you can rent spec miata's out here. don't know about other cars. you can rent my fd if you want, just bring "some" cash as a deposit ;) fabian |
I just ordered 17x9.5"(275-40-17 v700s) forgelines all around for my FC, Fabian, are you running the 285s all around? look forward to seeing you at the track. Best regards, Carl Byck

how much of an increase in stopping power comes with the porsche brakes? Are they heavy? I know some people looking into doing that conversion

I know some people looking into doing that conversion The brake kit is quite heavy, mostly because of the rotors but the calipers are heavy as well. Although I never installed them on my car, I did weigh the components :D : Rotor 21.5 lbs Caliper 8 lbs bracket 1.5 lbs brake pads X 2 1.5 lbs Total: 32.5 lbs per side I don't remember the weights of the stock or the M2 AP racing kit(which I currently have), but the Porsche kit is much, much heavier. However, although heavy unsprung weight is bad, there is an advantage in having heavy rotors. These Porsche brake kits are supposed to be phenomenal. |

man thats the same fronty bumper and color my fd gonna be :D
|
Hey what about getting the Porsche 996 to go with the Porsche brakes ;)
|
