its fucking paint, on things that get well over 1k degrees (brakes)... its not going to make the 'slightest' be of difference, whether you're talking about color, or insulation.

Unicorn is 100% right I run in club racing and my paint on any product will not affect the placing of me and my car at the finish line. This is a forum is on race performance and inprovements for RX7 to kick ass on the track. So lets talk about engine parts, tranny ideas and so on. LOL

Maybee you need to stick to topics that you know a little more about.

Oh people, for starters the brake calipers themselves will rarely see over 200 deg C. They DO NOT get to the 1000odd deg the rotor gets to.

energy radiation from a caliper assuming its a perfect "black body" at a lowly 200 deg would equate to less than 0.5kw..now common road car braking systems can generate thermal energy around the 500kw range!! (so for each brake roughly 125kw)

now given its not an equilibrium, and the brake temp increases quickly and the heat is dissapated at a slower rate than it is taken in by braking, we could give some rough figures of the cooling rate being 1/4 of the heat in rate (going off some logged data this is more than realistic at high speeds it can approach 1:1). this means the brakes are getting cooled at a rate of 30kw at worst.

So we have a cooling rate of 30kw, and the radiation (of the caliper) part is about 0.5kw. So there is the radiation heat transfer of the caliper contributing 1% of the total heat transfer away from the braking system!!

Sure the radiation of the rotor IS a factor (probably 5-10Kw) BUT the caliper isnt

In summary, talking about different colour paint on a caliper of a road car is a complete waste of time, and I want my 5 minutes back from posting this :)
