Are people still interested in these things for track use? I've got one currently in my car that I'm planning to replace with a light flywheel and a 6puck clutch (I'm turning it back into a street car)

whats the weight of the entire assembly? as i have been searching for a flywheel with a less than 8lb equivalent OR LESS might you have any clues on that?

The entire setup is only like 5lbs lighter than stock. In actuality the flywheel and counterweight weight the same as a stock flywheel with built in counterweight.

Are we talking stock sized clutch, 7.25" or 5.5"? That makes a huge difference in the inertia. It's not about how heavy it is, it's about how far out that mass is.

? my flywheel is 9 or 11lbs and the clutch assembly maby a little more than a stock clutch assembly, however no way its almost as heavy as a stock flywheel / clutch setup

It depends which model it is?
There's a "street" version and there's a super light version.
The street version is is really mild, and you're basically going backwards going back to a single disc - the twin set-up should handle more power.

The super light version is brutal, and I can understand why would want to change it.

How can you tell the difference?
Does the flywheel have extra holes in it?

I'm not getting rid of it expecting to handle more power... These discs are unsprung, so there is definitely the opportunity to look like a frickin idiot everytime I leave a intersection, driveway, parking spot... etc. Unless O.S. makes sprung clutches... Oooo i'm gonna go look.

i think mines sprung, however its been a long time and i cant rembmer

EDIT just saw the pm from when i bought it, it was unsprung

Just have to get used to it and its not that bad, I daily drive mine... And yes, the flywheel has lightening holes unlike the other version.

i got the OS giken twin disc. I dont exactly what type it is but it handle my abuse really good and its not brutal at all! I was testing a ACT 6 puck thing here one day and that was PAIN!

Yeah the giken clutches are lighter than the stock unit. They are IMO easier to drive that a single disk upgrade clutch. Three puck clutches use super strong covers and metal disks for more holding power. The Gikens depending on model use moderate cover pressures with two disks. The greater surface area with two disks gives more holding power and easier engagement.

Yes there are sprung disks available for some models. The OS super single clutches use sprung disks.

There was an artice in Sport Compact Car once, about how they bought an exedy twin disc clutch for the project evo, and expected it to drive realy harsh... but were amazed at how muh easier it was then what they thought.

The only problem is, the Exedy twin disk costs $1.700,00!
