ok racers , some advise please

Ok guys , I sure could use some help here . I just got my 87 T II with a S 5 motor and trans up and running . I have raced locally at Langley race way "http://www.langley-speedway.com/" the past 2 weeks and the car is doing pretty good . I made it to the 1/4 finals out of 30 + cars last night . I need to figure what I need to do to get better grip around the track . The car is mostly stock but here is what I have so far . RB front and rear sway bar / Wolf 3D engine control unit /stock turbo with cold air intake / tokico 5 way adj with ground control coil overs / RB exaust . I have a pir of 3rd gen rims and tires with 255 tires on them ( I had to use 1" spacers ) I am using my BBS rims with 215 tires on the front . The car is real fast but any help you could give with traction would be a huge help . I'd love to figure out camber and toe in/ out . Also maybe a sugestion about tires and rims / Tire pressure / how to set up the Tokico 5 way . ETC

Thanks for reading this and leave what ever you feel like to help

Thanks again

Well I could not find what class you are running in for a rules list. It looks like a circle track so you want to put stagger in the car. Put tires with higher circumference on the right side or just air up the tires you have 5-10 lbs. on the rt. side(if you roll a styrofoam cup on it's side you will understand). Other than that just move as much weight as legal to the left side and the rear.

Thanks Finky

I forgot to mention that the only rules are that it has to be street legal . I get what you are saying about the tire pressure . I was going to play more with it this comming race . Did you check out the other site

Do the rules allow r compound tires?

Personally, the car should be great as is now. Just need some practice :P Just work on braking to keep the car controlled and you should be laughing. It sounds like your a pretty good driver as it is so.......

What kind of tires are you running? r's?

It's hard to give good advice on an oval setup with a pyrometer, and without watching the car. You'll definitely need to have different pressures left/right. But, we need to know if you're running DOT-R's or what.

I'll also gurantee you need more positive camber on the left front. On the FB we practiced on a 3/8 oval we had all the camber we could get on both sides, and needed a bunch on the left and a little on the right. I think we had about +1 on the left and -4 on the right, on shitty old Hoosier S03's. Relatively new S04s didn't make much of a difference... which means the car still wasn't sticking well.

Anyway, get all the positive camber you can get on the LF and LR (you can adjust that fairly easy on the rear control arm, right?) and get all the negative you can get on the RF and RR. Start with a 5PSI difference left to right. Adjust up until times drop off (or down, depending on how much practice you can get). See if you can borrow a pyrometer from somebody, and take inside-middle-outside tire temps. Also take before and after tire pressure readings, and post all that stuff up here. Then we can really help ya. ;)

Camber plates are probably the only option in front, but you might be able to slot the towers (that's the way we do it on the Spec7's). Don't know what the rear looks like (haven't crawled under the one I've got here and I can't remember what the FC with blingrims I worked on looked like).

You might search the second gen forum... maybe somebody's got pictures there.
