OBX Helical Limited Slip Differential

Hey, has anyone tried one of these? How do they work? Do they last? has anyne broken one yet?

Here is a an eBay link -

I have not been able to find a used Miata torsen for less than one of these new.

I have "heard" that they're remarkable junk. Unfortunately the forum where the info was posted up no longer exists, but it was one of the few sources I'd trust. One of those people who makes things not break for a living...

Ok, Peejay, what do you mean by "remarkable junk"?

I'd link the thread but the forum no longer exists. I wasn't paying too close attention to that part of the discussion. All I remember is that OBX was coming out with a torque-biasing type differential for a discount price, and the casting/machining quality reflected that.

wasnt the limited function of the limited slip done with a spring? i read that thread too

Not that I really know too much about the specific part that you are discussing but if this is the same company that makes single turbo manifolds for the 3rd gen I would have to agree with Peejay.

I have heard through word of mouth that the flange thickness, diameter of pipe, and overall quality was junk with their product. I would not be surprised if the diff was the same.

IMO, the rear end of my car is not the place to be testing OBX crap. Save a few more bucks, get a Torsen and worry a lot less. :)

Any other thoughts?
