nylon bushings/???
 

This question is mainly for street use,
I hope to get some input concerning aftermarket FD bushings. I have seen some made of nylon ( I think it's nylon 6) and sell for about $700.00 (not installed). I would like to here from some owners who might have some experience with these. What do you guys think about the nylon set up??? John

I hear their very good as long as you install the zerk fittings to keeped them greased up.

I understood the nylon doesn't need any extra care. I assume you would grease the bushings at installation and that nylon by nature won't cause squeaking. Doesn't the nylon contact area on the control arm etc stay in a fixed position and the movement of the unit happen at the steel insert??

At first, but seems that heat or friction w/e the cause, has cause a few sets to go bad, so jimlab recommends zerk fittings to keep them greased regularly.

I am assuming you are talking about Zerk's fitted to the control arm etc. I wonder if you could make some out of nylon with a oil formula in the product. I guess I need to look at the specs on the different nylon out there. Thanks for the heads up. John PS I have seen some of the specs on nylon and it's operating temperatures are a bit low. I think nylon 6 is around 210 or so and could see hot spots could mar the bushings. If the bushings don't give the pivot points will carry a lot of pressure.

I think nylon is actually self lubricating (to a certain point). Correct on the fittings. Preferable anything that will be doing alot of movement would be a good place.

I just found some info on nylon 6/6. This formula is much like the nylon 6 but has some advantages. How hard could it be to cut out a set on a lathe? Really it just seems basic stuff. I may get some and tinker around.
