NHRA legal cage
 
what type of a cage do need to be legal and run 11's or possibly 10's without getting kicked out! this is for a NHRA sanctioned event. i can't find it on their web site

I'm not a drag racer, but as I recall, to run 11s, you need a 5 point roll bar. The basic 4 points plus a bar running from the main hoop, down the drivers side, to the floor, and that bar had to run between the drivers shoulder height and waist height, IIRC.

To run 10s, you needed a full cage.

What the specs are on tubing size, weld vs bolt in, I don't know.

yeah, i'm looking for a place that might give out the specs. this is definitely not going to be good though for auto-X. I'll get put into some insane class like a A-mod. Or something stupid. Damn the SCCA

has some specs on cages, and when they are required. It's under section 4:10.

11.99 or quicker requires a roll BAR. (as do all of the pro classes)
10.99 or faster than 135mph requires a 10pt roll CAGE.

If you build the cage legal to IT specs, and get a log book for it (even if you don't go racing), you're legal in Street Prepared.

street prepared......Holy caca, i thought that i would go straight into a prepared or mod class. what the hell is a log book. that i don't understand. I would just like a car that can do both.

Actually, you can run down to 10.00 with just a 5 point bar if you have a stock frame/body.

I think adding a bar / cage *reduces* points in auto -x.. since you are adding like 50-100lbs.
