New standing half mile record

We've probably got another 10+mph at the current boost pressure in it also. Next time we go out with the car, we are going for the 35+ psi range, and see what happens.

Can someone explain why the standing 1/2 mile record is lower than the top 1/4 mile mph?

Is it just because 1/2 mile racing is a less competitive for of "racing"?

I know Len Bacon has trapped over 178mph in the 1/4 mile in his 2 rotor.

Only made it about 10 seconds in before realizing it was Rob Dahm... Absolutely can't stand listening to him... That is a bit perplexing why it would be slower than 1/4 trap speeds. Maybe it's because getting a legitimate 1/2 mile setup to even attempt it is much more difficult similar to how Bugatti will be almost impossible to beat the sustained MPH record since they own the largest test oval on the planet

It is definitely less competitive. There is also a lot less traction so unless you are awd you aren't going to hook for a few gears. A 2000hp rwd mustang on big slicks ran 199mph. A 9 second mustang ran a 168. Also most quarter mile cars have gearing helping them, which will hurt you here.

The biggest win here is not blowing the engine. Most rotary guys who attempt this grendade.

Rob and I are already ordering more parts for the next race....Don't forget this was our 2nd pass, it's only the start....

.

That is a good point.
It is easier to make a rotary last 1/4 mile than a 1/2 mile.

:lol:Laughing through the pain because I still love rotaries:(
