new motor break in?

hey guys, im going to get my motor rebuilt soon, and the car is no longer street legal, nor is it registered in any way.

my question is when some of you get your race car's motor rebuilt or built for the first time where and how do you get your new motor broken in?

I believe most race guys will maybe do a few hat cycles, then race the motor. No long break in periods.

My engine builder (Prather Racing) breaks the motor in on the engine dyno. Plug it in and go racing.:)

In a pinch about 10 years ago we, put the car on jacks, started it let it idle in gear for about an hour. Keeps a little bit of load on the engine. The next day drove it around the paddock for about 20 minutes, not exceeding 4,000rpm, making sure to go up and down the rpm range. Let it cool down. Repeat, going up to 6,000 rpm. Went racing.
