new Kumho V710 sizes!
 

Finally! After watching other cars on this tire I have been wanting to try running them but there was no size available for my FD :( That changes in the spring:

KUMHO expands V710, ASX lineups

FONTANA, CA … November 1, 2004… KUMHO Tire U.S.A. will add several sizes of its new ECSTA V710 and ASX tires in 2005.

The ECSTA V710, KUMHO’s new DOT race tire, has done very well in SCCA competition since its introduction earlier this year, winning dozens of road races and claiming 21 titles at the SCCA Solo National Championships. The tire is currently available in seven sizes, ranging from 205/50R15 to 315/25R18. Five new sizes of the V710 will become available in January--215/50R13, 195/55R14, 205/55R14, 225/50R14, and 225/50R15. Five more sizes in April--215/40R16, 225/50R16, 245/45R16, 245/35R18 and 285/30R18.

Anyone want to buy a new set of Hoosiers?

Damon, don't you run SS? If so, which sizes are you planning on running on your 16 x 8's?

315-25-18, sounds good, I wonder how those would work on 18x10.5s.

245/45/16 normally fit just fine. 225/50/16 if I can't get those.

The 315/35 18 works great on 18x10.5's. The V710 is the fastest DOT-R tire out of the box on the market ... you won't be disappointed.

Looks like my Supra may get a new pair of shoes, SM here I come:D

285/30R18.......... glad they came to their senses. The Kumhos in Tirerack.com are also $30-40 cheaper!

Time to budget for some 18x10 CCW's down the line.

A 10.5 is a little narrow for the 315. Unless you are limited by Stock class SCCA rules I'd run at least an 11. Also, the 315/18 is a very tall tire, so be aware of the gearing change as well as the need for clearance.

The 315/35 18 fits very well on a 10.5" rim. There is no discernable sidewall bulge and no issues with rollover. The rounded edges of the V710 help in that regard as well. It is a very tall tire .... but it's helps tremendously on cars that have trouble putting down HP. Then again, the Z06 is slightly camber limited in the rear (under stock rules), so for a car with a better camber curve ... an 18x11 may work better.

Not saying it won't fit. 10.5 is on the bottom end of the spec from Kumho for that tire size. I run the 315/17's on 11's and wouldn't want to be any narrower looking at it. Unless you are constrained by rules, I'd still recommend going wider than 10.5 to spread the tire more.

The downside for the 18" tire on an FD is that even if you have the fender clearance width-wise, it limits how low you can get the car. If you haven't changed your gearing from stock, the tall tire would be a detriment in autox.

Damon, I run the 245/45 victo's and have been waiting impatiently for the same size in the v710's. Do you know something the tirerack doesn't?

I wouldn't think so. The quote in my first post if from Kumho USA's site. They state the sizes are coming but not until April 2005.
