Hello,

I would like to start a new FD race car project.. my current FD is almost done and I would like to make a more extreem version ;-)

Now my question is:

What is the best way to go widebody ?
I want the car as low as possible..and a little wider

In the Revolution TA2 car they changed all suspension points.

If the car is wider... most use spacers. I'm not a fan of spacers. also the front wheels will need much more turning space.
Is there some information how to get the hubs wider ?

What will happen to the handling.. how to do this the right way ?

How wide do you want to go? I have 11.5" wide wheels on the front of my car with 315/35 17 tire. I can't go any wider as the "corner" of the tire will start hitting the chassis at the front and rear of the fender weels at full steering lock. If you are going to do extensive clearance work and want to go wider, you can certainly make longer upper and lower a-arms (and tie rod).

That is my point.
I don't need that wide wheels. 285 tires are ok with me. otherwise the teris are way to expensive.
so I like to run normal wheels. 9.5 or 10
So longer A-arms is a good idea. but how does this affect the handling.

With a car that is very low the arms are not straight anymore. so that can be improved.

changes the connection points on the car where the A-arms are mounted is a possibility...
Make them higher in to the chassis and a little wider.
but I can not find the information about this.

If you want to change roll centers there are a few ways to do that. You can change inner mounting points (extend the stock u-brackets on the upper a-arms to add a few more positions). Or you can change attachment points at the spindle by either altering the stock a-arm or building a new one. Or you could do drop spindles. You can get some drop spindles from Japan that compensate for a lowered car, but they may not be right for your car.

In any case, it sounds like you are more concerned about the suspension rather just wider tires. There are alot of suspension plotting programs out there that will let you model changes and understand what changing different parameters will do to your roll centers, camber curves, bump steer, scrub, etc. I've used SusProg3d which is pretty good, though as with any program, what you get out will be highly dependent on how good of measurements and numbers you put in.

ehm.. so it is more high tech then I hoped it would be.

So I want to raise the bar a little and build a car that is a higher level.

What if I make all front suspension U point 30 - 40mm higher and wider ?
If I do this with all points that would not change the handling big time just lower the chassis. make them wider to use my normal wheels and tires but have more track width.

I can do this in the rear also.. but need some longer drive shafts.
