Need some help identifying oil pressure problem
 

Ok here is the deal. Normaly i have 60 psi of pressure at idle wich is about 1500 rpm. When i reach 3200 rpm i have 120 psi of oil presure. We have shimsed the rear oil presure valve so that it will increase the presure.


Now the thing is. I was at a race track today and noticed that i only had about 45 psi of oil pressure above 3000 rpm. At idle it's about 17 psi. It goes up to about 60 psi when the engine oil is cold and i rev it to 4500 rpm. I have a aftermarket gause. And we tested with a analoge gauge as well in the same place the greddy gauge is. It shoved the same pressure.

There is enough oil in the car.

Im hoping someone could come up with some ideas. Im gonna check the oil pressure regulator in the front and the back. And im gonna check the oring between the front housing and the front. And the pickup to see if anything is loose.

Could this happen if there have happend somthing to the oil filter? Im running AGIP 10-60 Synthetic oil.

Oh and the oil temp is strange too. When just cruising the temp goes up to about 90 degreese celcius and then when the thermostat opens it drops to 50 and then slowly goes up again and does the same thing. So could this have anything to do with it?

Help would be apriciated. Im thinking about leaving it like this untill the car is in Dallas. But the car needs to be driven on and off the boats to get it from norway to the US. So i need to try and fix it.

Change the oil filter before you tear everything else down - see if it could be stopped up.

Did someone mess around with your oil cooler's thermostat?

Nothing has been done to the car since the oil presure was fine. And im the only one working on it. So no

Plugged oil cooler or blown out oring in the front housing. Just a guess...Bypass the oil cooler completely and see if the pressure goes up

Well fixed it. Not gonna say what but eh. My fault for it happening. Somthing was missing. But it was an easy fix.

Why don't you post what did you fix incase somebody had the same problem and don't know how to fix it?

Eh it's too embaresing to say. All i can say is i forgot to put somthing in. When i esembaled the engine the last time. And a seal broke. Iv'e done about 16 engines now, and this is the first time.

Ok it was the white o-ring that is between the front housing and the front cover. So i blew out the gasket that was around the white o-ring :(

it has happened to us all. good thing you caught it before it was damaged.

That makes me wonder about my low oil pressure? I blame it on the oil sender since it's been happening ever since I had the car plus 3 rebuilt and it's still the same.

Thats the number 1 source of low oil pressure problems on rotaries. If you ran the car for much longer or harder you would of at least taken out a front or rear bearing :(

So what else causes low oil pressure? I thought bad oil sender too that is why I don't worry about it.
