Need More HP

Ok, so I am trying to get more HP out of my 81 GSL I am racing in NASA PT. I am trying to do anything but porting. Right now I have header and race exhaust, racing plug wires, weber 45 dcoe carb and intake, holley red fuel pump and pressure regulator, all ac and heating stuff removed. Are there other things I can try besides porting? Thanks

There is a lot of power to be found by tweaking the ignition system...

What do you suggest, or what produces the most HP gains?

How about some dyno time? Don't look for HP gains, try to make more torque.
But the problem is trying to find the person in your area that knows RX7's and Webers carbs.
I'm sure you can find a ton of info on different header and exhaust systems that can get you more gains.
I agree with Kentetsu, look at the "direct fire" coil set up posts in the First Gen FAQ's

Good luck and tell us your results.

Yes, there is a way to run a 2nd or 3rd gen lead ignition "pack" (includes ignitor and coil) in a direct fire manner (plug lead from coil to plug, skipping distributor cap). This can provide decent gains all by itself.

If you are any good with electronics, then run a search for "Transistor Trick". That will lead you to a thread that describes a system that allows you to actually use the 2nd gen ignitor to fire the plugs, rather than the 1st gen ignitor as used in the above application. There were issues with the latest design, causing coil packs to burn up, but while they lasted the power increase was simply incredible! They have since figured out how to add a couple of resistors to the wiring in order to prevent the burnouts, but it does require a bit of knowledge of electronics. But if you can do it, then that is the way to go. I doubt that even MSD works better, and you can do this (TT) for about 50 bucks.
