need a little help
 

i have a 88 na
i need to change my wheel lug studs. i would like to use some that are a little longer.
this is a road race only car if that makes any difference.
right now i'm using stock rims. i would also like to know what you guys are using?

You need a press to do it right. You *could* use the hammer method to take out the front studs, and use a lugnut to pull the studs in, but that's a good way to damage the stud, the hub, and the lug nut :)

ANd to do the rear, you HAVE to have a press, because you need the press to separate the wheel hub from the rest of the floating assembly.

Chris Wire sells replacement studs IIRC, I'm sure he'll chime in here sometime soon.

Paul is right. I just did all of the studs on my ITS car a few months ago. A press will make the job a breeze, but surprisingly, only taking them out. They still go in easier with the sledgehammer routine. You will want to run a lug nut down them to draw them through and make them straight. I like to reverse the lug nut so the large flat end is against the hub. Another tip would be to use a large flat washer on the fronts so as not to damage the aluminum hub. Lastly, go to your parts store and buy 20 new nuts for a 91 Honda CRX. They are a 19mm/ 3/4" hex, and they have a shoulder on them to help keep the nut from sinking all the way down into the socket. how much longer are the ARP studs? I need to change the studs on my car, but I need them about an inch longer to accomodate a big wheel spacer(to cheep to buy two new sets of wheels). I have resisted changing them to a 1/2" stud because I didn't want to drill out the hubs to fit them. thanks
