Though I was going slow because my tires were gone. I managed two 1st place finishes. Well got a little help from traffic too.

Nice! We had PTE 1st Gen at Gateway last month. They had an incident with a wall (IIRC), but it was a nice (and loud) car. I don't recall if they ran Sunday or not. They were in the paddock next to me, but I wasn't around the area much. I know they were banging and hammering out the damage Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning! ;)

Are you dyno-reclassed or on points? Could you give me a little insight on your set-up? Suspension, motor, etc.

Dyno re-classing isn't as favorable as points. So far we have found (and believe me we tried to change Greg's mind) that a stock 12a can get 140 to 150 at the rear wheels. So in PTE you run into the HP to weight wall, and have to start adding weight. You also have to use the stock rear suspension (there are thing that can help get the most of it though).
With that being said. I have run a few different configurations.

Bal 12a with weber and RB header (there are better headers, but I'm at the HP limit now).

Koni 28's (I could only run the sport shocks in the stock struts but now have the 7s only struts). If you can't spend a lot of cash. Get the rear shocks first! And don't be stingy with your love. Go BIG! The ass end is the most difficult to get to work using the stock rear suspension.

Delrin in the front arms.

This is most important - for the rear to work as best as possible. I'm doing the PBJ(you can find it in a search) in the rear. But you need new soft rubber for it to work. DO NOT put Delrin or Mono ball. Because it will bind.. Also make sure you have a Watts link brace (from MazdaTrix). This is a "Must do" part.

Steering, I'm using the 7s only steering arms (for Ackerman). Some use the bump steer spacers (you can find it in a search), But with the 7s only struts. The spindle is move up. so no need for the spacer.

Finally I'm running 225 40 13s for tires. Hoosier's, so far, are the fastest. But I run the Hankook's at regional events for cost reasons and it's a trade off. I have to run the stock trans (not the Miata) so I can run the A6 Hoosier's at Nats.

My big change this year is Brakes and shocks. I have been talking about the 7s only struts (a lot). Because, I had been running stock GSL brakes. But you still have to take points for the brakes because points are based on Base model. So the GSL has disk in the rear. So I may as well go big, if I'm getting hit already. I had thought about running the drums in the back to gain more points for something else. But I had to brake early so as not to lock the fronts all the time.
So I did a 10" front rotor and Outlaw Calipers. They also have set ups for sock GSL-SE calipers or if you go to a 15"wheel, The 12"rotor.
