Mounting Gauges in Dash
I was interested in moving the logicon down and putting gauges there, I know Paul C has this setup, and was interested what others have done?
Where do you get the DIN plastic to use? I've searched and came up with the SAAB DIN panel for 3 gauges, these are 3 VDO 2 5/8 gauges, uhhh I think that equals 52mm's off the top of my head right? So I'm not sure if they would fit in the Saab one or not. Also how do you remount the logicon lower? Anyone else with pic's of good idea's? |
You may want to ask this in the second gen section. Someone did this a few monthes ago and had picture. It looked good. I think someone was making carbonfibor surounds to do this with.

I ran 2 1/16" gauges, made an aluminum panel and painted it black.. If I had a sheet metal brake, I'd have formed it to sit flat with the surface of the radio surround.. My setup is a bit ghetto, but hey, it works :)

I was looking at the same thing. I did find that Summit Racing has some gauge panels/plates to fit multiple number of gauges.

The SAAB din panel is set up for 3 52mm Guages (2 1/16") not 2 5/8" it should be a perfect fit in the radio (DIN) slot - search the 3rd gen area someone posted pics of the SAAB panel mounted in their fd.
EDIT: here is a thread with the part info https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...highlight=saab |
Take a look at how I have mine in my dash.....

carbontrix.com is a division of road race engineering and they make a 3 gauge pod that looks pretty good. I'm thinking about putting it in my fc but first i need to install the clutch/shifter bushings. i'll dot the gauges when i rebuild the motor

Ernie, isn't it tough to read those guages from the driver's seat. It looks great, but is it practical enough for you? It seems like they would be hard to read.
