Mirror selection - Wink Panel mirror or Longacre Convex mirror? need input
 

So, I'm trying to figure out which to get. Panel mirror or Convex mirror

Wink style Panel mirror:

I'd like to get some input from people that have used these, which they prefer and why?

I need to buy one soon and have never used one of these before.

I've used a few different ones. Not one of your suggested mirrors, but the best one I've found is the Racer's ALLVIEW Mirror(RAM): http://www.allviewmirror.com/ram.htm

It was recommended by alot of my club racing buddies and I'm glad I purchased one. It shows sooooo much and is optically correct which is great when you don't want second guess exactly where some one is at(an issue I had with the panel mirrors).. I was able to find one on ebay with the rollbar mount for like $30 opposed to the retail price.

I had a Wink in my Pro7 and hated it because it was like looking at N individual mirrors. I was planning on trying the Longacre convex mirror, but that RAM posted above sure looks nice!

That Allview RAM mirror looks like it will work pretty well. They did a good job illustrating its benefits.

HRPWorld has it for $79 w/ mounts new. Ebay has an auction for a used one w/o mounts running right now. I'll keep my eyes open for one.

I've used the multi-mirror wink style, but am currently running a $10 OEM style regular size rear-view mirror.

The issue I had with the wink was that I could not get it adjusted such that I could see out the back of the car. With my height in the seat the mirror had to be quite low on the windshield which greatly restricted my forward view. Hence the cheepo mirror from Kragen.

In the world of spec miata I would highly recommend a spot mirror such as this one (Longacre) mounted on the driver-side A-piller cage. This spot mirror gives you a good view of the cars running tight on your hip, which otherwise go unnoticed. I use one of these and find it invaluable.

I also run a convex stick-on mirror on the passenger side mirror. Beyond that I try not to worry too much who is behind me, the really important stuff is what you see out the windshield!

I've been looking for that spot mirror. Thanks for the reference to Longacre's.

Good input on seating position affecting mirror usability. I will wait and see how the seat position works out and what makes most sense to use.

Used to use a wink on a few different cars, now use the Longacre convex. I like the wider view to the rear without having to search the width of wink to find something. Most smaller cars the wink is so close to your forehead you need to move your head to see the passenger side end of the mirror.

I like the look of that Allview too.
