mazdatrix bump steer kit
 

So purchased these outer tie rods from mazdatrix for my race car.

Installed my new inner tie rods, then installed these outer tie rod ends. Put the wheels back on and decided to pack up for the evening. Immediately noticed that I had an insane amount of toe out on either side even with the tie rod ends screwed on as much as possible.

Emailed Mazdatrix and received a response that I have not cut enough of the threads off my inner tie rods. Was pretty upset to find out that now I have to remove the inner tie rods to cut them. Keep in mind these are sent to you with no instructions what so ever. After asking them how much threads to cut off, they have not responded.

I would advise against purchasing this item if you are looking for direct bolt on. This weekend I will determine how much threads to cut off, unless someone here could advise me.

Guess this is what I get for trying something new.

I do not have a solution, but a question:

Does the threading for the tie rod arm go very deep into the hex body, deep enough to meet directly with the spherical joint? Or does it only thread into the hex a little bit?

Fully understand what you are asking. It is only threaded part way into the hex body. I did notice this as well and am thinking about trying to thread this full bore first before I go and cut my inner tie rods. I believe these are M12x1.25.

It seems like it would be a pretty easy fix if you just have to tap it a little further... I wonder why they didn't design it like that in the first place.

Well then I'm glad I spent a few more bucks on the SuperNOW version.

As you can see in the pic, it is threaded down all the way until the threads for the heim start, and those are only as deep as the threads after the nut (second pic, window switch added for size comparison). Looks like the hex section is also longer.

I have not installed these yet.

the super now ones are actually not bad.. but i ended up making my own since the Megan and super now didnt work good enough.

So I worked on these today. Problem solved.
Heres what I did:

1) taped the hex body full bore with an M12x1.25 tap
2) cut 1 thread off the rod end.

I didn't touch my inner tie rods at all, looks to be enough +/- on either side with
the rack centered.

Only thing I don't really like is the angle the rod end is at. The spacers ride right on the brass race. I will post a picture of the install this week for anyone that gets these, however I would recommend against. I'd make my own next time.

What do you mean by this?

im having problem with mine as well...... its Megan and its way too short is there a way for me to add a little more without welding?
