Mazda Motorsports Swaybar Reinforcement
Does anyone have any information about this part - who makes it, what bars is it compatible with, how does it compare to other products out there?
0000-04-7304-BK BRACKET,SWAY BAR RX-7 1993-95 $179.95 Reinforced replacements for stock sway bar brackets. The factory mount for the front bar is insufficient when the loads increase under competition, actually causing the frame extensions to crack at the point of attachment. Thanks! |
IIRC, those are Mazdaspeed mounts. Mazdatrix sells them as well (for a little more money):

Ah thanks, that's what I was looking for.
I guess these'd work for my car but I wonder if I should get these or just go with the Widefoot pieces. |
I would recommend the Widefoot mounts, however, I'm sure these would also work just fine.

Matt, I'd go with the widefoots as well. I've been running them on the silver car for over a year without issue. I think they are actually cheaper than the Mazda Motorsport ones if I remember correctly. I don't know how much of an issue you will run into on the road course, but I'd feel alot more comfortable with the widefoots when AutoXing which I know you do as well.

What bar are you running? I have the Widefoot mounts with bronze bushing blocks and spacers, and they've been perfectly smooth and noise-free for 4 years now - haven't even refreshed the original grease. Best engineered mounts you will ever find for any car. Bushing blocks are for Speedway/TP bar though.

Haven't decided on which bar to go with yet. Probably nothing too aggressive as I want to retain some of the street manners of the car with the suspension upgrades and I'll still be running street tires on the car at the track. Right now the overhaul plans look something like this:
New Motor + maintenence (all coolant hoses, FPD, etc.) Tokico Illuminas + Ebach Pro Kit Sway bar mounts + Streetable bars (ST, Tanabe, Racing Beat) Street tires (Dunlop Star Specs or the new Rt-615k compound) |
Well the Widefoot mounts can work with stock-style solid bars. I think David made some sort of D-bushing brackets that bolt to the mounts. Maybe a pricey setup for what you want.
Since you mentioned RB bars... Been a while, but I remember there being problems with the Racing Beat bars, both their tubular and solid versions. The tubular ones had lever arm failures, and I seem to recall somebody finding that the solid ones weren't properly heat treated, and they bent under load. I'd be wary of their bars. |

Thanks for the info all. I ended up getting a set of the Widefoot mounts a while back.
