Mazda Motorsports

A buddy of mine asked me to share this. Mazda is really trying to help out grassroots motorsports. Please sign up for this its free and gives you discounts on Mazda OEM and motorsports parts. If Mazda sees there is a market I am sure they will continue producing spares that we all need for racing.

I'm the motorsports tech rep for Mazda. I'm based in the SE, with the focus on support between the racers, the racing organizations, and the manufacture. One branch of my position is parts support though Mazda's team membership program. This is what I wanted to share with everyone here. To be honest I was not totally aware of it before being here.

If you are competing in, or thinking of competing in, a Mazda, then signing up for the Mazda Team Support Program should be your first step. The program is free and the benefits are many, such as:

•Ability to buy MAZDA-APPROVED stock and competition parts at specially discounted rates
•Access to the most comprehensive OEM-SUPPORTED program in the industry - contingency support and technical support (800.425.2508)
•Opportunity to compete with and against other Mazda racers
•Fast and affordable delivery across the country including Saturday delivery to many race tracks

If you meet the following requirements, then registering is easy:
•Be a legal resident of either the United States, Canada or Mexico (however, we currently only ship parts within the U.S.)
•Have a valid membership with a sanctioning body/organization approved by Mazda such as the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) or the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) if you desire to compete (e.g., Track Day members do not need a membership)
•Either be building a Mazda for competition or have competed in one sanctioned event approved by Mazda within the last 24 months

If you meet these requirements, have a copy of your current sanctioning body membership card (if applicable) and /or a digital photograph of your competition Mazda (complete or under construction), please click on the Join Mazda Team Support Program in the right-hand column.

To maintain your Mazda Team Membership, you must either complete the build of your competition Mazda or provide one race result in a competition Mazda within the last 24 months.

Andrew, does NASA TT meet the criteria of a competition event?

Yes, you just need to show your registration or NASA membership card. If you don't have that still apply and there is a notes section on the application and explain what events you are doing.

There is literally nothing to lose since it is free.

Will you guys ever ship to Canada again? :P

Man this is such a great idea! It's heartening to see some OEM support grassroots Motorsports. Pardon my ignorance but most competition parts sold by them today are likely for the Miata right? Or do they still some for the RX7?

I checked real quick and you can still buy some engine and trans parts for the FB including a dogring gearbox. There should be even more available for the FC and FD, also this should give you a discount on OEM stuff as well, like dealer cost for stuff if we are lucky.

Do you have a list of other Mazda approved competition sanctioning bodies? I also forgot to ask if autocross counts as a competition event?

evo_koa 03-28-18 10:54 AM

^ Autocross counts. That's what I do in my FD and FB. If you called Mazda Motorsports and sent them the track days you have done they would get you set up with the discounts. They are very helpful.

As long as you can prove that you are doing some sort of performance driving with your Mazda you should be covered. They are really not trying to exclude anyone.

Wheel to wheel, time trials, HPDE, track days, autocross, drifting, rally, rallycross, drag racing should all count.

Thank you sir that helps. I'm an instructor with PCA and do plenty of track events each year, but in the past that didn't count because it wasn't considered competition. I'll submit an app and see what comes up.

no problem, they are really trying to be inclusive with the program now so that we can get better pricing and such

FYI they have denied TT and AutoX results in the past quite often. I've never had W2W race results rejected but i've had a hard time getting TT results approved.

I believe they are changing that.
