LSD rear end chatter

I'm running an lsd with 4.33 gears and chromoly axels, the problem is that the rear end chatters like an sob, what could be causing this chatter? Only hapens under light turning and loading, if your going through corners at higher rpms there is no chatter. Any help would be great!!

If it's a plate type that has been built for racing they will chatter when you push the car around and then turn it. Its the plates slipping and grabbing.

Is there any special fluids that I could use to make the chatter go away? Another question should it be making a louder whining noise when driving?

If you have solid mounts on your diff you may here some gear noise but not a loud whine. We run Redline gear oil, I don't remember the exact viscosity, It seemed to quiet the diff noise a little. If you have loud gear noise I'd have it checked out.

What manufacturer?

olyrx7, I have a KAAZ 1.5 4.1 lsd in mine, and KAAZ is pretty militant about using their oil, which is expensive. I found that on initial install with 100% bias mine chattered quite a bit, but after I a)broke it in per KAAZ's instructions and b) changed the oil at 2K miles it really quieted down. If your still have the original fluid it's going to have little bits-o-crap from the break-in, and changing mine made a HUGE difference.

I am running the Kaaz 2 way lsd, I initially followed the break in and changed the fluids but I have yet to change it at 2k miles. Is it manditory to use the kaaz fluid or could you use like a 75-120w synthetic gear oil and and addictive??

Ignore my posts if this isn't a Mazdacomp LSD. They make some noise because they are locked down so tight.

Mandatory

KAAZ says to strictly use their stuff - don't know if it is to lock you in to their consumables, or if they're rhetoric about the composition of their oil matching their components is really true. Given how expensive the damn thing was, and now that I'm only driving about 500 miles a year with track only outings, I'm sticking with their stuff. Try one more change now that you've got miles on it (hey, what's another $50 in oil, right?). At low speed I still get it, until I've driven a few miles and warm the oil up, then it stops at medium and higher speeds and only shudders a little bit at low.

The chatter may have to do with how much lockup the diff is set up with. A different oil may be able to quiet that down. The whine may have to do with the amount of backlash the diff was set up with. Were the diff internals perfessionally installed?
