Losing a rear wing at 140+ is bad news

Yikes... and almost a buck-fifty into the climbing esses, that's hauling.

Wow!! Glad Philip is ok! He was running sub 2:00's at the NASA TT back in October, I want to say maybe a 1:58. He did spin going into turn three and messed up Fritz's lap at that event as well. Dan Knoll(or maybe it's Kroll) also totaled his STI at the last NASA TT of the year at summit point. I think it's been a big wake up call for all the TT guys and safety equipment.

This adds to our reasoning to add welded reinforcements to the pedestal mounts on the hatch of my car - just installed the RE Amiyama A spec replica from JKL and we didn't like the way the sheet metal would take the stress, so we are mounting additional pedestals under the screws, adding some welded reinforcement, and are going to add hood pins to the hatch. It is amazing how light the rear end on a car gets at those speeds......glad the driver is ok.
Also why we're putting in the cage (now done)....but I still need more safety gear. |

Very cool that a car like that can run sub 2s at VIR. Incredible tuner and driver :icon_tup: That was probably the hardest hit I've seen on a track video. Glad he's ok. |

Wow!

this made me order a new wing for my race car.... fellas might wanna start keeping an eye on the bolt and threads that hold the planks to the brackets. ive found one missing before and threads get stripped out easily if you are using the aluminum types.

I'm glad he's ok. All that safety equipment saved his life!
So the rear wing flew off, he lost downforce and went into a spin? Jeeze! |
Holy, that was a bad impact. I'm glad the driver was able to walk away from that. That cage held up real well and that Hans device probably kept him from neck injury. After seeing a crash like that happen due to uncontrollable mechanical failure, I really need to start thinking about prioritizing a cage and seat/harness in my car...
