Currently, I run HPDE so no cage or harness is necessary. However, as I get better I do want to race. Maybe in 2011. Tempted to pick up some FC seats in the interm as in HPDE they want matching seats and I have a race seat on the driver's side and the stock seat in the passanger's. So far they have let me run that way, but one day they may not.

Anyone ever tried the NRG seats?

idk...honestly i decided to stay away from composite seats because they flex when you sit in them...cant be good for the materials over the long run...

seat is meant to keep you safe, a composite seat with cracking in the epoxy just doesnt seem safe..not only that but the fia cert expires on them. if you want looks i guess go for it...nothing sexier than the sparco pro2000 imo, but the kirkey looks to be a hella durable seat....and if you have the funds you can make a custom foam seat for it for even more protection.

mmm, misinformation.

Yes, composite seats flex... for a reason. The flex of the seat allows the seat to help dissipate some energy from a crash rather than transfering it directly to the driver. Yes, FIA certs expire. So does the cert on your helmet... would you like an aluminum helmet?

not misinformation. i wanted a seat that would last...and over time composite seats break down...i completely understand they flex to prevent injury...which inadvertantly is what makes the seat expire after a certain length im time. a proper alum. seat with proper padding and seat back supports will out live a composite seat for a fraction of the cost. and it can certainly be alot more comfortable and wont flex under G forces keeping you in the position you need to be for comfortable driving

i'm familiar w/ these seats; nice construction for the price. only negative point on these is that the mounting rail inserts are not reinforced; just carbon fiber so they may deteriorate over time. some people just reinforce them w/ washers and what not.

hit me up if you are interested in these seats and I can probably give you a hookup price on them.

Aluminum helmet would be too heavy :) Besides it's the foam inside that provides most of the protection.

Still Looking for seats as that and paint are my big goals this year that I have yet obtained.

So far the best price with padding that I have found is:

Plus it is NJ, so I can probably go pick them up and save on shipping.

Also Mariah sells some Momos for under $300 each. Anyone tried these?
