Legal CSP Dellorto Cold Air Intake?

Trying to think of how to get cold air to the carb without cutting bodywork or structural panels.

I can't find a rule (2006 SCCA Street Prepared) that states cutting of bodywork or such like is legal therefore I'm assuming cutting into the radiator side supports would be illegal. What do you think?
What about cutting a hole in the top panel that bolts to the radiator side supports just in front of the radiator? Maybe that is not structural.
You could pull air from below the engine.

How can you construct a legal CAI on a 1st Gen?

On all of my 1gen cars we just used the factory holes beside the radiator for cold air....there are two other local SoCal CSP 1gen guys doing the same thing. I haven't run CSP for about 6 years now, but back then we could not cut or trim any sheetmetal or chassis metal for any reason other than drilling holes for external shock reserviors or trimming for camber plate installs. I'll have to dive into the '06 rules for that......

FWIW, some of the CSP guys (Doganis, Schenker/Clements) that run Miatae down here run a 4" duct onto the intake that drops below the radiator and air splitter with a vacuum-like scoop...very effective, but then again those guys don't run air filters. But one was the Solo2 National and the other the ProSolo Champion this year....... :-) Wouldn't do it on a rotary, though. Seems like they did it specifically so that there was no sheetmetal cutting at all, rules may have changed for '06?

Nope no cutting of the sheetmetal in street prepared. You can update and backdate though. The '84-85 GSL-SE had an air intake that runs through the radiator right side support. So you could use that radiator side support if you want.

I have a CSP autocross car also, an 85 GS 12a with the tall radiator and "beehive" cooler.

I have a short three row radiator from an 81 sitting around, and was thinking of swapping out tall radiator and installing the short one, then using the open space to duct air to the carb. Would also install oil temp and water temp gauges to keep an eye on that!
