Leak of Death???
 

Whats the "Leak Of Death" look like? I've got a spare motor that I'm contemplating tossing in the racecar for the start of the season that has some extreme amounts of caked oil right around the base of the filler tube that extends out about 4" on either side, about 2" up from the tube and then all down the spark plug side of the motor.

It looks to me like a sloppy owner, but I've got a feeling its something else.

How hard is it to get your tube out? If it's a loose fit it could just be G forces shooting oil from around the tube. A good whack with a rubber hammer should be all it needs to break loose, and then another from the top to get it back in.

I wouldn't call that the leak of the leak of death, unless I'm misunderstanding. It doesn't sound like it's coming out of an area that means the engine will blow, just that you'll be adding more oil than normal! :)

The leak of death (for me) is usually from around the distributor somewhere. On the bright side, I never have to do oil changes on my street car because it empties itself! :D
