KAAZ Diff, Use KAAZ Gear oil or Not?

Hey folks, I have a KAAZ diff and I'm looking for some diff fluid for it. I've read the KAAZ recommendation of only using their gear oil in the manual. I was wondering if anyone has run any other type of diff fluid with their KAAZ? The manual states you void whatever warranty the KAAZ comes with if you don't use their oil. Has anyone had any problems running non KAAZ fluids?

Where can I get some KAAZ fluid at good prices with quick shipping? I need some asap.

I’ve only run the Kazz fluid, those who I know who haven’t have complained about the noises it can make without it. But there are some that got no noise with the other fluids.

Cheap Kazz Diff fluid it a oxymoron lol

I use Valvoline fluid with a GM LSD additive. I still have noises from back there but IMO I have driveline slop somewhere and it manifests itself there. As it has gotten worse over the years. I amsure I need to rebuild my LSD at this point as I DD my beast.

all kazz fuild is made of is gear oil with no LSD additive. Thats why kazz diffs always clunk around slow turns. LSD additive just make the oil more slippery so you dont get the clunking. Back in the 60's 70's LSD additive was made of sperm whale oil.

Do you have any clunking? Did you follow the break in procedure for the diff?

BigIslandSevens & yallgotboost have these diffs been through the break in procedure? I've read of multiple cases where the diff has had no clunking issues after proper break in procedure was followed.

I have only used the kaaz fluid. with no problems.

Juice, I broke your diff in with the supplied KAZZ diff oil and used their procedure to break in the diff; basically driving in figure eights for 1/2 an hour. There was very minimal clunking with their fluid after break in and it should lessen with time. After I broke in the diff, I used some leftover Redline I had lying around and the diff sounded the same. On the next oil change I was going to use Royal Purple.

Basically any modern gear oil of the correct weight will work just fine and I wouldn't bother wasting my time or money trying to source the KAZZ rebranded diff oil anyways.

Fwiw, if the diff clunks excessively, the proper break in procedure was not followed.

Thanks Dave. I remember you telling me you broke it in properly. I was thinking of trying Royal Purple too.

I've always used Redline Oil in my kaaz. It only clunks at very sharp, parking lot turns when i'm practically off the throttle. Never just turning on the street or with the clutch fully engaged.

Ok. Kaaz Gear oil is GL-5 80w-90, so any 80w-90 is ok? I just went to 3 auto stores within a 1 mile radius of where I work in search of Royal Purple or Redline gear oil. I went to Advance, Murry's, Autozone and none of them had Redline at all or Royal purple in the correct weight in stock. :wallbash: Murrys and Autozone had Royal Purple 75w-90, but couldn't even order 80w-90 for me, which seems like bullshit because they are listed on Royal Purple's website as dealer in this location.. Murry's had their own GL-5 80w-90 brand for $10.99\gallon... and a couple other brands, valvoline, coastal etc. I wonder if this cheap Murry's stuff is any good. lol

I've read some stuff about honda guys running 75w-90 in their kaaz units. Would the 75w-90 Royal Purple be ok to use in an FC Kaaz?

Mazdatrix sells KAAZ gear oil. They also say that if you use synthetic, it will destroy your diff. I dont have a KAAZ, so i dont really know. http://www.mazdatrix.com/G8LSD.HTM

I did the figure 8's for the half hr, ive never got any clunking when i still drove it on the streets.
