JGTC will be here in 2005!
I heard that the JGTC will be coming to the states in 2005. Just a rumor. I hope it does. Maybe when Mazda introduces the next rx7 (hopefully in 2006) will we have the rx7 reining the streets once again.

got any proof? cause that would be super.

I will try and find a thread I've seen about this... gimme a sec.

"Supposedly, the JGTC will race on the West Coast of the US sometime in '04"
man i wish that "supposedly" wasn't there. i'd be a happy camper. thanks for finding the link. |
Is JGTC going to be on speed again this winter? I am pissed that they aren't playing MC racing on tuesdays anymore, hopefully the JGTC will be back.
If you look on the JGTC site it has something about trying to race in the Western Hemisphere (I believe they even mention it on the video on the site). I can't wait...I know I'll be buying tickets if it happens!
They have a video on the JGTC website saying that they will introduce the events to the US. Don't know if that means racing here but who knows.
I'll bet if they do race in the US it will be on Laguna Secca. Don't know why. I just have a feeling. |
I say there are only a few places they might go to...since they say West Coast...of course it'll proly be Laguna Seca. I'd rather see them go to a few other places though...Sebring being the one I wanna see most...then Road Atlanta, and then my friends...where else but Watkins Glen!
I'm sure it'll be Laguna Seca though, if not then Infineon Raceway (Sears Point). |
that should be interesting to watch ;) the events that i have seen are cool, but the driver's skills are iffy at best. taking turns with the wrong line, totally missing apexes, kamikaze driving... should be good viewing though
i would say a better bet would be barber raceway

alberto...what events are you talking about, iffy drivers? We must not be talking about JGTC. Those are some of the best drivers in the world in that series. It's just like every other racing series, you have to change lines sometimes (the fastest line is not always the RIGHT line), and other moves are just part of racing...there are lots of circumstances that determine what line you'll actually take as opposed to the "correct" (aka optimum) line. I can't wait to see them here though! :D
i'm curious to see what kind of times those cars would run around our tracks. it'd give a good comparison to our racing series.

I've watched some JGTC races, the drivers do typically make little more mistakes and there are more accidents than compared to an ALMS race or something similar.
From what I've seen (and I've seen a lot :)), the drivers make just as many mistakes in the ALMS series and other racing series that they do in JGTC. It's just that for some reason the coverage on American television only shows when events happen, I guess this is to make it "more exciting"...I'd much rather see a close group of laps between a group of drivers than the incident that happened on the other side of the track. Close laps are exciting, if I wanna watch some spectacular wrecks I'd watch NASCAR (they're good and all...but damn if they don't have ridiculous wrecks!).
You wouldn't even catch me watching Nascar! :D Anyways, I'm definitely going to watch JGTC if they are at Laguna Seca or Infineon.
I'd drive to NEW YORK if JGTC was coming to the US!
I read on there site that there goin your way 2004 BASTA@!S (JEALOUS)
For those interested the latest issue of Race Tech has an article on one of the Skylines in the series. These cars are terrifically far from stock and are advanced to the level of ALMS construction. The Skyline uses the engine as a stressed member and the amount of CF work is crazy.
