ITS SCCA rules - extent of legal modding

Anybody know where I can find an online resource that has the rules for SCCA ITS?

thanks

Your best bet is to find somone with a 2002 GCR near you. The 2003 GCR isn't ready yet so even if you order it now you won't get it for a while. And no I don't know anyplace online with them. But if anyone knows I need the ITA rules lol. :D

The last GCR was available on a disc so someone should be able to send you a copy. I would but I gave mine away. If you're serious at all though wait and get a 2003 GCR. There is a ton of info you really need to know if you want to start building a car. And if IMPORT GUY has the ITA rules, well they are the same. Just different cars.

Yea, now they give you a copy on a CD-rom with your book. Someone must have it hosted on the net somewhere.

TeamWireRacing 12-24-02 02:05 PM

Well, the info on the CD is copyrighted, so don't expect to find them out there any time soon. A guy in the NE had them on his webpage, and SCCA politely asked him to remove them.

However, I don't see how they can stop you from sharing the CD or emailing the file.

Silkworm 12-25-02 01:11 AM

Well, legally they can, but enforcing it is an entirely different matter..

OTOH, I wonder when SCCA is going to give up on selling GCRs, it's a lot easier to point future drivers to online resources than it is to tell them to buy the book.

Vtec, if you have specific questions, please don't hesistate to e-mail me. pcabana@newsguy.com

Buy the damn CD. No need to pirate a good club like SCCA out of money that is well needed. Support the clubs that we love. Lots of time was put in to make these rules, let alone make them available to purchase on CD and book form.

It's not that much either.

The GCR has a nice writeup of rules for the ITS class. My 2002 manual gives you everything.

ITS is intended for stock cars. no modifications. IE: No porting of motor/manifold. They make you use stock shocks also. You can remove all your smog stuff, but it all has to be blocked off. Can't go any bigger on brake size or anything bigger than 15 inches for the wheels.

2680 is the marked weight on this. Does anyone knwo what the lowest possible weight you can go on a FC?

Silkworm 12-29-02 12:44 AM

REZ, I'm at 2450 no driver, 1/4 tank with most of the legal weight savings, with a stout 8pt cage.

So you'd have to be 220 to legally drive my car or would need to add weight.

Yea, but why buy the 2002 rules that are about to be obsolete? hell we give away all the old books we havent sold at the end of the year as they are worthless anyway at that point. If your in the SCCA, you know that the 2003 rules will never be ready on time!!!!!!!!!!!! I didnt suggest he pirates the new rules dude.

wheels/tires - 15x7 (or maybe x8), any DOT tire, must be under fender

engine - rotaries are stock, ECU free

intake - stock downstream of MAF/MAP. free upstream of MAP/MAF. no ram air
