installing a full roll cage got questions

for the guys who've installed a full roll cage in their car, did you have the body aligned first before you installed the cage? this would seem like an important thing to do, because if your frame is bent or torqued beforehand and you install a cage you'll make any twisting of the frame permanent. insights please.

Did I do that? No, I didn't, but I knew my car had never been in a bad accident. If you're not sure, they yeah, that's a good idea to do, have a frame shop check the car out and make sure it's striaght first.

I have done this and found no advantage. if the car has been wrecked before I would take some measurements of the chassis and make a decision on the frame machine. If it is a good car to start with think about having it checked after the cage installation. this is when the chassis can be twisted. I would make some measurements save them and then verify them after installation. Pro teams will built their cars on chassis jigs to prevent any distortion in construction, but a plumb bob and a tape measurer can work for the club racers. use the extra money for other improvements.
