ignition system
 
do any of yall know or have tried to take off the tralling sparkplugs and coil and if they hinder performance or driveability
as i understand the tralling is used for emissions purposses

That is incorrect. It is the *second* (wasted) spark of the Leading plugs that only really serves emissions. The Trailing ignition actually create significant added power and, if for some reason your Leading ignition dies, the car will still start, idle and drive fine (just a bit sluggishly because of how retarded the Trailing timing is) on the Trailing ignition alone.

The reason the Trailing ignition is necessary is because the gas flow inside the camber actually exceeds the velocity of the flame front! In other words, without the Trailing ignition, the flamefront never burns past the minor axis of the chamber, leaving you will a bunch of unburned fuel and air (read: wasted energy).
