Ideal chassis setup for drag fc?

What's the best alignment to get some major traction. What suspension should I use. I wanna cut some killer 60ft's next season and decided I would set my car up over the winter. This will be a street car so I don't want to go to radical. I want to be atleast 1.7 60fts. My best 60ft to date is a 2.02 with 265mm wide falken all season in the back. Would swapping in a 4.3 final drive drop it any? And how do you feel about power shifting.

I ran mid 11's with an all stock 198K mile suspension and cut 1.71 60ft times on Nitto 245/50/16's. Removed the front sway bar entirely.

I think your biggest problem now is traction. The new M/T drag radials are supposed to be killer with new records being set. I know a guy that cut 1.33 60ft times with 275/50/15 M/T DR's. Full slicks would be even better.

How much power does your combo put out? Weight is the enemy.... alum hood and remove whatever you don't need will give you free power.

I agree with gnx7. Tires are the key. A 1.7 light isn't hard to achieve with a decent tire and nothing else. I cut consistent 1.7s with 205 Nitto DRs and my turbo Miata. If you want to go the extra mile take the camber out of the rear so that when the rear squats the wheels are near 0*. A two-step rev limiter will make you consistent. And bring plenty of axles.

I third the comment about tires. Learning proper launch technique will help dramatically as well.

I've seen good times out of the BFG Drag Radials as well. My friend has cut 1.8s in his FWD (yes, FWD) Buick Regal on them.

Practice, practice, practice. :bigthumb:

I cut a 1.63 on BFG 255/50/16's on stock TII wheels, that was the only time I managed a 1.6 60 with the BFG's at my sucki track.
However they are not as consistant as the E.T streets
Which when I borrowed a pair I did 1.6 everytime
and this was with a stock suspension...

When I watched a video of me doing 11.9
I got wheel hop when the suspension rebounded after launch
which means I need to keep the front of the car up and the back squated more

Which I think a good adjustable shocks/struts soft spring combo and
bushing kit should help
