SF Region starting on Jan 23rd :) :)

BMS2004 01-10-05 01:10 PM

not sure, but matt malicki, the former WMR solo II chair guy said a suby won it. it did sound like a suby to me too. Also he thought it was put on by wisconsin autocross group. I looked at their site and no signs of one this year.

You just live in the wrong part of the country.
South Texas is a great place to be in the winter.
The San Antonio club will have it's first auto-x of the year January 16
The College Station club on January 30th
The Austin club starts on February 20th

Of course auto-x in August and September can give you heat stroke working the course.

TrentO 01-10-05 06:39 PM

We do. Snow just makes the course more interesting

Seems they have winter AutoX here in VA....and there's a race at VIR this weekend....

Black91n/a 01-10-05 10:22 PM

The UBC Sports Car Club runs autocrosses here all winter every 2 weeks. They call it the slush cup (although there's rarely any snow or slush, just rain).

We got no problem running SCCA events in Hawaii in the winter? :D

Snow events are exceedingly fun, the downside is that the track conditions change with every run... with all the cars sweeping the course clean, an untouchable time at the start of the event may be pathetically slow by the end. Now ice racing on frozen lakes sounds like fun.. who's got the picture of the unfortunate subie that fell through the ice?

Winter events that are just cold can be a real bummer if your club isn't good at moving cars through the course.. *brrrr*

Falcoms 01-11-05 10:42 AM

wow, that lap at gingerman looked friggin awesome in the snow. When was that?

BMS2004 01-11-05 10:46 AM

We run a winter series. Lot only gets plowed if there are deep frozen ruts or if the snow is deep enough for a Subie to get stuck........... :p:

Hey all, Boston bmwcca chapter that i do some track events with here in the norteast has ice racing every year in New Hampshire. They run it as a timed autocross with classes, year end trophies etc... Fun if the ice is thick enough!!

A road course in/on snow looks pretty crazy.
My club, ( Pikes Peak Sports Car Club), runs an ice autocross series at a small private lake. The first will be this weekend. It's slick. And slow. But we have fun. The local SCCA has a winter autocross series. They had to reschedule the first 2 because of snow.
