I love to watch a 1.3L beat V8's!
I was at the SCCA races in Seattle at Pacific International Raceways on the weekend and I got to see some cool stuff (I wasn't racing, I was helping out a guy I know). There was a tube frame 3rd gen running a PP 13B competing in GT-1. The guy won the race outright beating C5 Corvettes, several 911's, other tube frame cars and a Monte Carlo stock car looking thing (it looked so out of place). It was a sight to be seen! I loved seeing him catch and pass those V8's, drift through the last bit of turn 8 and backfire on the straight (only sometimes though)! It put a big smile on my face.

any pics....
|
Sorry, I don't have any pics, I was pretty busy the whole time working on the car and I didn't remember to bring the camera.
|
Was is name Bud Riechart?
|
i had (may still have somewhere) video of a PP 12a 1st gen beating vipers on the track. fuggin amazing. my friend was there to tape it. i'll try and get the clip from him. i believe it was making 370hp to the wheels since they went fuel injection. it was their first race with that setup seeing as f.i. was just allowed. tellin ya, rotary powuH is the JAM!

That's the car!
|
I really want to see the video of that viper killing FB.
|
Sweet!
FYI 13b PP is now allowed in GT2. He has GT2 class markings on his doors. Monte Carlos and Corvettes are GT1 and Porsche GT2. So he was passing cars in a faster class!!!!!!!!!! |
I would be very interested to hear how he manages water and oil temps since he is using the stock front bumper.
R PS Someone get the video |

Ok. Makes better sense now. thx

Notice the camera mounted in the car in that picture? Where are the videos from that thing?!?
|
I'm 95% sure that he was running in GT-1. His airbox is cool, carbon fibre being fed by ducts from the turn signal holes. It's not a stock front bumber, the whole car is fiberglass, I think, either that or sheet metal, but the hood and trunk were fiberglass.

I'm a fan of Wade Mcbride in our region, his GT-3 car is wicked fast. Great fun watching him run with the big blocks.:) |
His name is Bud, I use to help on the car as a crew member 4 years ago. It is a GT2 PP13B I believe now. Use to be a 12A PP. Those engines are for sale if anybody is interested (contact me). They are both short blocks with dry sump factory pump and covers.
Bud is using a engine guy in Canada that is really really good. He is able to run many races now before it needs to be freshened up. Getting tons of horsepower out of these 2 engines he is using now. Car is Tube framed, Glass shell, Quick change rear end, dog box, very simple and very reliable. Bud has also blossomed into a very good driver, has many laps at PIR and PR. Go to the track when you can and say hi! Very nice guy. Oh, the video camera you see in the car is for his personal use and his Public Access show he airs in the Seattle area. Check your listing. He talks about the car, how the weekend went, and about the compitition. Pretty good actually. Any other questions you may have, feel free to contact me. |
[QUOTE=cpa7man]Is he running a 3rd gen tub? I would be interested in finding out if anyone is racing a real FD in SCCA.
I built a cage for a ITE 3rd Gen car last year. He lives in the Portland Area and has yet had the car out this year. Engine is been gone through by Jerry Hull, He lives in the Vancouver, Wa area. If his name is familiar to you. He was an engine builder in the 80's for GTP's rotaries. Has many 12 and 24 hour wins. Car has received a single turbo, modified intercooler and all the other go fast engine stuff. Big Wilwood brake kit. 8 pt cage by me, FuelSafe cell, and many hours of prep. He will be out in force next spring. He has been ironing out the computer system. Should dyno shortly. The only picture I have of the car left is the one on my website. I will check some of stored data discs for pics. |

Tub with carbonfiber body. Did really well in ITE and SU with 13b PP and 51IDA. Now GT2. |
