I got a dirt track car, wanna convert it to a rotary.
I just got an open wheeled dirt car. It has, as of right now, a 650cc inline 2 cylinder 2 stroke Arctic Cat snowmobile engine on it. Its worked over, hard. It'll spin 15,000 rpms without a problem. The drivetrain is a CVT with a beginning ratio of 10:1 and an ending ratio of 1:1. Its pretty badass as is. Its made to compete with the Outlaw class, you know the big winged beasts? Its not AS fast, but it can hold its own. I mean, it'll do about 85mph, and driving it on pavement is a big no-no because it'll hold the front wheels off of the ground until about 50mph with those 15" wide rear tires. Scary to say the least. Anyway, I'm thinking about converting it to a single rotor powered beast. The regulations of the competeing class allow for it considering it doesn't exceed the 750cc maximum displacement rule, its just that nobody has ever done it. I'd probably utilize a 13B housing and rotor, probably with a 9.7:1 rotor and I'd peripheral port it. I've got the basic concept established in my mind, but how would I go about making a single rotor work? Could I just use one ignition coil from a 7 or would I need a diferent type of ignition? What about the eccentric shaft? could a stock 13B shaft be milled down or would I have to have one custom made? I'm just trying to figure how to make a single rotor work, because I've never heard of a single rotor, but I figured It'd be pretty neat to do. Thanks for any input.
