How do I get into this thing?
 

Took my '99 NSX to Willow Springs on Saturday and it was a blast!!! My friend campaigns a 911 and is also an instructor. He was with me on two of the five runs.

Came home and looked at my '88 N/A daily driver and wondered how I could track it. I am going to have it re-build soon. It looks like a crop duster every once in a while with the white smoke, and 95% of the time it runs fine. So it's a question of "when" rather than "if".

My questions are: what do I need to do and what should I do to run in a stock class? What mods are acceptable/required to run in stock? I don't care about ripping out the interior, etc.

for a race car, this means wheel to wheel competition, the only required items are safety related. rollcage, belts, window nets, fire extinguishers, etc. for open tracking or hot lapping you are probably only required to have a properly running street car. all the other modifications may make the car faster or more competitive race car but are not required. simples racing class for a second gen is an IT type class. limited modifications(mainly to suspension) and basicly stock running car with all the safety modifications. check rule books for exactly requirements.

ITS is the closest to a stock class for an FC. however, this class is now dominated by e36 bimmers and 944's. its still a great class, but im just saying you wont be competitive with the top runners. any way you can get into road racing, do it. you wont regret it.

Not out here it isn't. RX-7s, 240Zs and BMWs rule the roost out here in NorCal, and looks pretty similar down in SoCal.

well yes its mostly bimmers, but we have a local legend named Brian Zalner who is very competetive with his 944. hes an excellent excellent skilled driver. thats what i was referring to.
